Strootman fitness issues could rule out January transfer

Kevin Strootman’s continuing fitness issues will hinder any hope Manchester United have of bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

Andy Mitten, editor of club fanzine United We Stand was speaking on his PlayUp channel, recalling a talk he had with a contact that had previously tipped him off about Daley Blind‘s imminent arrival at the club.

It seems the 24-year-old still isn’t ready to play twice a week and simply isn’t fit enough to slot straight into the first team as would be required of him at Old Trafford.

The last thing Louis van Gaal needs is a player coming in with serious injury issues given the continuing crisis at the club during the current campaign and it appears Roma will also be holding out for a large fee of around ‘€50m’.

It’s now become well-known that van Gaal wants to bring Strootman to United after working closely with him during his time as Netherlands manager whilst rumours persist that the player is equally as eager to reunite with his former boss.

Like any big deal though there is likely to be a lot of negotiating in the summer as United want to bring him to England but Roma are clearly keen to hold on to one of their prized assets.

It seems Strootman would be one of the players the club are targeting to continue helping them reach the next level in both English and European football and will surely be one of the main transfer saga’s come June.
