Aston Villa vs Man Utd – Potential 3-5-2: Van Persie and Falcao up front

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United go into this game against Aston Villa on the crest of a wave. Two away wins in succession and six consecutive victories make Louis van Gaal‘s side the Premier League’s most in-form team.

That doesn’t mean the game is sure thing but it at least gives United an advantage ahead of kick-off. Teams are now scared of United again which counts for something.

Radamel Falcao speaking to the press this week about how he wants game time and is ready to play suggest the Colombian will start. If he doesn’t, there’ll be plenty asking why.

Robin van Persie should certainly start up front which means Juan Mata would miss out to Wayne Rooney in the no.10 role.

Formation wise, Van Gaal has opted for the 3-5-2 formation in the last two away games and could very well do the same against Villa, especially after it was so effective against Liverpool with Michael Carrick at the heart of defence.
