Sam Johnstone is happy to remain on loan at Doncaster Rovers for the second half of this season.
The 21-year-old has made ten appearances for Doncaster since joining them on loan and has put in some great performances, including a penalty save in Doncaster’s 1-0 win over Swindon Town last Saturday.
Speaking in an interview with the Doncaster Free Press, Johnstone made it clear his priority was simply to play football and would consider extending his loan at the League One side.
“I enjoyed being here last year and I`m back playing football which is what I want to do,” he said.
“I get on well with the manager and the players so it`s all good.
“The opportunity came in October to come here and play.
“I was told it would be up for review in January and that`s all I really know about it.
“My main priority is playing games right now.
“Whatever opportunity comes up, I`ll take it.”
It comes as no surprise to hear that Johnstone isn’t in a rush to return to Man United. With David de Gea in such stunning form, Johnstone has very little chance of getting first-team appearances, so his best chance at action is out on loan.
Johnstone has plenty of potential but the only way he’ll fulfil it is with regular football, so staying at Doncaster for the season would be a good decision.
