Juan Mata finally living up to his pricetag

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata recent performances have proved the Spaniard has a place at Old Trafford despite early rumours he might leave the club when Louis van Gaal took over.

Mata had a prolonged spell on the bench and failed to influence games as he did at Chelsea despite an impressive goalscoring record at Old Trafford.

After a below-par performance against his old team Chelsea, Mata was left on the bench against Manchester City but came on as a sub to win the game against Crystal Palace and start a run of nine unbeaten games that lasted up to Sunday’s game against Spurs.

Mata has been a key part of that run, playing regularly behind the strikers and controlling games as he did at Chelsea.

Mata scored the winning goal against Stoke City in November and grabbed the second goal against Liverpool two weeks ago before laying on the third for Robin van Persie.

Against Newcastle, Mata put in of his best performances for the club, playing a huge part in the first goal before slotting in Wayne Rooney for the captain’s second.

Mata was up to his old tricks again vs Spurs, putting in good balls and creating chances for Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao and the Spaniard is finally living up to the pricetag Chelsea placed on him.
