Real Madrid demand De Gea as part of Bale deal

Real Madrid will demand that Manchester United allow David de Gea to move to the Bernabeu if Louis van Gaal continues his pursuit of Gareth Bale.

The Welshman has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks and van Gaal himself refused to rule out a move for Bale last week, saying it would stay between him and CEO Ed Woodward.

The club lost out on Bale when he joined Spurs from Southampton as a teenager and once more came second when Bale chose Madrid over Manchester last summer.

But it appears Madrid will ask for David de Gea should Bale ask to leave the club and will put pressure on United given de Gea’s contract situation at Old Trafford.

De Gea’s contract expires in 2016 and come the summer he will have less than 12 months to run on his current deal. Whilst United appear confident de Gea will stay at the club, Madrid will see the Spaniard as the perfect replacement to Iker Casillas.

Despite signing Keylor Navas off the back of the 2014 World Cup, Florentino Perez has a habit of making superstar signings to appease the supporters of the club and de Gea could be next on that list.

With Marco Reus also a target, Bale could be allowed to leave the club for the right price but it appears United will have to fight back and forth to get Bale but also keep their star goalie.
