Louis van Gaal has confirmed Angel di Maria is closing in on his return for Manchester United having returned to training this week.
Reports suggested Di Maria’s injury wasn’t as serious as first feared and speaking to reporters at this week’s press conference, Van Gaal revealed that was the case.
“He’s coming back,” Van Gaal said.
“I think he shall train with us this week.”
When asked to confirm whether the injury was a serious one, Van Gaal added: “No, I have said that already.”
It’s a surprise that news of Di Maria’s fitness was not officially released until two days after Van Gaal’s press conference but the good news is that murmurings of his injury being minor look to be correct.
At this stage, there is no confirmation as to whether Di Maria will be fit enough to return in time for Man United’s game against Stoke City today but it shouldn’t be too long before the Argentinian winger is back in action for United.
