Nick Powell has now returned to Man Utd

Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell has returned to the club on Friday after an unsuccessful spell at Leicester City.

Powell made just two appearances since joining the newly-promoted side in August having just appeared for United in their 4-0 defeat to MK Dons.

But rumours emerged after Christmas that Nigel Pearson wasn’t happy with Powell’s attitude and since it has been mentioned that the midfielder could join Bolton until the summer.

On Friday, Leicester finally confirmed that Powell was being recalled from his loan spell by United.

Interestingly, United’s wording was a little different and wouldn’t confirm whether he’d been recalled or if Leicester had decided to terminate the agreement.

The 20-year-old could have returned at the right time with an FA Cup game against Yeovil Town next on United’s schedule but it’s unlikely van Gaal will give Powell a free pass into the team until they determine whether his attitude has improved since returning from Leicester.

Given the talent Powell showed at Crewe and a relatively bright start to his Old Trafford career, it would be a shame if he followed in the footsteps of Ravel Morrison and failed to fulfil his clear talent.
