Angel di Maria has travelled with Manchester United’s squad today to face Yeovil Town but both Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie have been left in Manchester.
It’s no surprise to hear Carrick and Van Persie have been given a week off because they were heavily involved over United’s festive period which was so busy.
Further reports suggest that it is a full strength squad that has travelled today apart from Van Persie and Carrick.
As for Di Maria, his return to the squad is fantastic. When he injured his pelvis in training there were initial fears that it could be a serious injury, so to have him back so soon is a real boost.
Whether or not the Argentinian comes straight back into the starting XI remains to be seen but Louis van Gaal will not be complacent with his team selection after the nightmare against MK Dons in the Capital One Cup.
Today should be a great game. The FA Cup Third Round is all about ties like this and with over 1,500 standing United fans in an intimate 9,500 stadium, it should have an atmosphere to match.
