Van Gaal: Herrera is class

Louis van Gaal has praised Ander Herrera‘s fantastic finish against Yeovil Town and is delighted for the Spaniard.

Herrera’s instinctive half volley on the turn sent an unstoppable shot past Yeovil’s goalkeeper and was the moment of magic which turned the game in Manchester United’s favour.

Today was the first time Herrera has started for United since early December and Van Gaal was pleased with his performance.

“Herrera is class,” he said.

“It was a fantastic goal. I was very happy with him that he scored.”

Herrera has had to remain patient but Van Gaal gave him an opportunity today and after a slow start in a poor first half for United, he came to life in the second after his goal which was the catalyst for a comfortable final 20 minutes.

With Marouane Fellaini still injured and Daley Blind working his way back towards full fitness, Herrera may have played himself into United’s starting XI for next weekend’s game against Southampton.
