Fan reaction: Should Michael Keane be sold by Man Utd?

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United and Burnley have entered talks over a potential deal which could see Michael Keane join Burnley on a permanent transfer.

The 21-year-old has emerged as a central figure for Burnley in their defence this season and has impressed enough to earn the plaudits of the press, fans and manager Sean Dyche.

With United’s defensive woes this season, Keane can count himself unlucky given that 19-year-old Paddy McNair has been given so many opportunities but he was already out on loan. But the question now is whether United should let Keane go or whether he should be re-called and given a chance with the first-team?

We asked our followers on Twitter for their view:

Burnley blog certainly thinks Keane would be a great signing: “…But the Clarets have to look and think ahead. Keane is a player the team can be built around.

“He is strong and powerful in the air, quick enough across the ground, brave in the tackle and comfortable in possession. He doesn’t appear to have an obvious weakness and seems a good fit alongside Shackell in the heart of the defence.

“Even at £3m upwards, Keane could well prove an absolute bargain and securing him should be the first transfer business we do this month.”

United fans are split but Burnley fans are united in wanting to sign Keane. What’s your view?
