Ben Pearson is in talks with Barnsley over a potential loan deal reports the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman.
The 20-year-old midfielder was linked with a loan move back in November but nothing materialised at that stage. Now, Barnsley have been named as his potential suitors.
Long considered as a great prospect by followers of United’s academy, Pearson certainly deserves a loan spell to spread his wings. The competition at U21s level simply isn’t good enough for him to progress and the lack of regular games also factors into why it is a poorly run league.
Previously, Pearson has made it clear he would like to go out on loan to help his progression: “Hopefully I can go out on loan. I’m not sure if I’m ready yet. You’ve just got to throw yourself into it and see what happens. The manager has played a few youngsters already. Tyler [Blackett] has been playing regularly and Reece James has played. The manager has done it previously at Ajax and Barcelona and I hope he can do it here.”
With the majority of January left to agree a loan move, hopefully Pearson will get his opportunity and fans are certainly keen to see what he can do with a run of first-team football.
