Manchester United have officially confirmed Michael Keane has joined Burnley on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old has been on loan at Burnley this season where he impressed for Sean Dyche’s side enough to earn himself a move.
Keane has signed a three-and-a-half year deal and will be immediately available for Burnley’s next game.
His transfer to Burnley ends an affiliation with United that goes back to when he joined the club as a 15-year-old schoolboy with his brother Will.
Having been part of United’s FA Youth Cup winning side in 2011, Keane has continued to progress and has grown into an accomplished defender playing regular Premier League football at the age of 21 which is a great achievement.
For Keane, he can count himself unlucky that he was out on loan from United this season given the amount of defensive injuries which happened as he would have no doubt been given an opportunity ahead of Paddy McNair, but it wasn’t to be.
We wish Keane the best of luck at Burnley (unless they are playing United, of course)
