Herrera looking forward to ‘big match’ against Southampton

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is ready to face Southampton on Sunday.

United’s players, particularly their Spanish contingent, have a habit of taking to social media both before and after games and Herrera appears to be keen to get back on the pitch after his good display last weekend.

The Spaniard started his first game since November against Yeovil Town in the FA Cup and a good performance during a frustrated game may have bagged him a spot in the line-up against Southampton.

Herrera scored a stunning goal from outside the area to put United ahead and his lack of game time has been frustrating for fans given the start he enjoyed to his Old Trafford career.

Herrera picked up a knock during the opening day defeat against Swansea but returned to score his first United goal and assist another against QPR in September.

A further goal came against Leicester City before the return to form of Marouane Fellaini coincided with Michael Carrick‘s comeback from injury.

But given his goal, performance and subsequent praise from Van Gaal last week, it would be a surprise to see Herrera drop out of the team this weekend.
