Louis van Gaal has said Manchester United will sign more players but only when they improve the quality of his squad.
The signing of Victor Valdes this week is expected to be followed by the exits of Ben Amos and Anders Lindegaard as another part of Van Gaal creating his own squad at United.
Something which United fans will find extremely promising is Van Gaal’s commitment to bringing in more attacking quality to a side which is already bursting at the seams with talent.
“When I cannot improve my selection, then I wait,” he told ManUtd.com
“And then I maybe have to wait a year more. Maybe you think that there are so many fantastic players, but it is not like that.
“However, I don’t (necessarily) prefer to wait until the summer when I can improve my selections. That I have showed with Valdes.
“When we can buy a player who can improve my selection, the club shall buy. Money is not interesting. It is always quality of the players in comparison with the other players that I have. I have to compare. I have to decide. Money doesn’t play any role.”
“Now that I coach Manchester United, I expect more attacking quality,” he added. “If it is not this year, then next season or the season after that. We shall improve and you shall see it.”
As has always been the case with the January transfer window, it is sometimes not possible to sign the right players. In that case, Van Gaal is happy to wait until the summer.
However, if somebody is available who Van Gaal wants, he’s now made it clear that move can happen swiftly and has boldly claimed money will not be a barrier for any player.
