Asprilla believes Falcao’s ‘broken relationship’ with Van Gaal means he’ll leave Man Utd

Faustino Asprilla feels Radamel Falcao’s relationship with Louis van Gaal has ‘already been broken’ and believes the striker will leave Manchester United.

Fellow Colombian Asprilla has been very vocal in his anger towards Van Gaal’s decision to leave Falcao out of his squad to face Southampton and has now gone a step further to suggest Falcao leaving United is already an inevitability if things don’t change.

“If Van Gaal continues he will leave,” Asprilla told IB Times UK.

“I think it is a relationship that has already been broken. Falcao understands that the coach does not want him.

“It is sad to see how he is treating Falcao. The problem is not Falcao, but the coach. Falcao had an injury earlier in the season, but after he proved that he is still the same top scorer he used to be.

“He played five games and scored goals. But this is all about giving him confidence. After playing well some games it is inexplicable that he suddenly stops playing. The truth is that I do not know what Van Gaal is trying to do at United. And I think both players and fans are also confused. He does many changes without reasons.”

Van Gaal insists his decision to leave Falcao out of the team was purely tactical but Asprilla thinks it has more to do with a lack of trust in the Colombian striker to deliver with his performances.

It’s a very delicate situation right now for Falcao. Having had a very dull first half of the season thanks to injuries, he really needs to light up the stage for the second half of this year if he is to earn a permanent deal after his loan expires.

The press are putting pressure on Falcao through false rumours and until he starts scoring goal regularly, they’re likely to keep taking the headlines.

Do Van Gaal and Falcao have a broken relationship? It’s a strong claim from Asprilla and one which the Dutchman will adamantly deny but what happens over the next few weeks with Falcao and United will certainly be an indication of what is going on behind the scenes.
