Blackett, McNair and Pereira yet to sign new Man Utd deals

Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair and Andreas Pereira are yet to sign a new deal with Manchester United despite their contracts expiring in the summer.

All three players broke through into Man United’s first-team squad this season under Louis van Gaal and two have earned their place in the squad with some decent performances after making the big move up to the senior side.

BBC reports that United are keeping tight lipped on whether any of the players will be offered a new deal but as their deals run out in the summer, it means they are permitted to talk to other European clubs if they wanted to.

Blackett was cherry picked by Van Gaal to go on the pre-season tour and was a regular starter for United up until his red card against Leicester City threw his form off and he hasn’t managed to recover yet.

McNair came into the team in the midst of a big defensive crisis and coped admirably with the unexpected pressure of playing for the first-team, so much so that Van Gaal kept him in the starting XI to face Everton where he once again impressed up against Romelu Lukaku.

As for Pereira, Van Gaal has kept him with the first-team squad in training and he has made the bench a few times but is yet to make his Premier League debut.

All three players have made great progress this season but it is down to Van Gaal whether or not he feels they deserve a place in his squad in the long term.
