Marquinhos’ career to date

Born in Sao Paulo, Marquinhos began his career with Corinthians. He was touted as one of the brightest prospects  to come out of the club in recent times.

Marquinhos’s time with the Corinthians was fruitful. He won the the 2012 Copa Libertadores and his performances began to attract the attention of a plethora of European giants.

In 2012 Roma purchased the Brazilian for a fee that would rise to £2.3 million if he made 8 first team appearances. Marquinhos finished the season making 26 leagues appearances and was an ever present constant in the heart of the Roma defence. His time at Roma was short lived however as in the summer of 2013, PSG signed Marquinhos for €31.4 million on a five-year contract.

Marquinhos’s first season at PSG was extremely successful. Making 32 appearances and scoring 5 goals in all competitions, he helped PSG win both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de la Lique.

Marquinhos’s performances had not gone unnoticed by former Brazilian national team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, who handed him a debut against Ecuador. Marquinhos has gone on to make 3 more appearances for Brazil.
