Blind happy with three points against QPR

by Richard Laverty

Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind expressed his relief at the team’s first three points since Boxing Day on social media after the 2-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers.

Blind was making his second start in a week after spending two months out injured with a knee injury and once again the classy Dutchman was one of United’s better performers.

In a dire all round performance against Southampton last weekend, Blind’s return gave United fans something to cheer despite playing predominantly at centre-back.

When reverting to left wing-back, Blind put in several dangerous crosses and repeated the feat against QPR, but nobody could get on the end of his teasing deliveries.

Blind didn’t look entirely comfortable playing left-back against QPR as United reverted to a flat back four but if the diamond system is here to stay, the Dutchman will surely find himself back in his favoured midfield role.

The former Ajax man settled into life at Old Trafford with ease and looked a solid buy until picking up a knee injury on international duty in November.

With Louis van Gaal relying on a certain amount of left-footed players in his first eleven, Blind will surely regularly again now he is fully fit.
