Wilson delights supporters with first goal of the season

Manchester United supporters were united in joy as 19-year-old academy product James Wilson came off the bench to seal three points in a 2-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers.

It wasn’t just the goal that delighted United fans, Wilson was a constant threat since his introduction early in the second half and brought pace to the game as once again the team appeared static during the first 45 minutes.

His pace dragged defenders out of the way and allowed the likes of Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria more space on the ball and as QPR tired, Wilson pounced.

He held his run well as Di Maria moved forward with the ball and calmly slotted the ball past Robert Green, who himself had a good afternoon in goal for the hosts.

At times this season Wilson has appeared daunted by his surroundings and couldn’t get into games but today brought the best out of him.

A tight pitch where pace ruled, especially late on as the hosts pushed for an equaliser. At 19, Wilson is the freshest of United strikers and his goal today should earn him a start at Cambridge on Friday night.
