Manchester United have once again been linked with a move to bring Gerard Pique back to the club from Barcelona this summer.
Pique joined United in 2004 and was on the fringes of a squad that won the Champions League in 2008 before beating United to the trophy himself a year later after returning to Spain but the 27-year-old could now be ready to return back to Old Trafford for £15m.
United were linked with a move to bring Pique back to the club this month almost immediately after the summer window shut. United’s defensive instabilities this season have hindered progress under Louis van Gaal and Pique, who has a wealth of experience, would certainly improve United’s options but despite the reports, Pique himself has denied the rumours.
United have also been linked with moves to bring Mats Hummels to the club although a summer deal appears more likely whilst PSG defender Marquinhos is the latest to be linked, with Le 10 Sport suggesting United are ready to bid for the Brazilian.
Despite a frail looking defence, United have conceded less goals in the Premier League this season than local rivals Manchester City but given the numbers of players linked, it would be surprising if there wasn’t an overhaul in the summer.
