With Mohammed Salah set to leave the club and Andre Shurrle’s future in doubt, Cuadrado would be a like-for-like replacement and another piece of strong business by the London club who are extremely efficient when it comes to sealing transfers quickly.
Equally as comfortable both at right-back and right-wing, Cuadrado was considered the perfect attacking defender as with Rafael still being unreliable with injuries and Antonio Valencia not a natural right-back, Man United are expected to be in the market for one.
There will be plenty of United fans looking on with envy as Chelsea negotiate a move for Cuadrado. Not only could he have slotted in perfectly as a wing-back under Van Gaal but his versatility on the wing meant he’d have been a strong addition to the squad.
Of course, at this stage there are no guarantees Cuadrado will move but Chelsea have now started negotiations.
