Fiorentina deny rumours linking Cuadrado with Chelsea move

Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella has claimed there is ‘no possibility’ that Colombian star Juan Cuadrado will leave the club during the January window.

The 26-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer as Louis van Gaal looked for a top quality wing back to form his 3-5-2 system but the interest now comes from Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

Cuadrado has a £26.8m release clause and earlier this week there were reports Chelsea had an initial bid of around £20m turned down for the Colombia international.

Despite the rumours, former Roma striker Montella denied Cuadrado was set to leave the Italian club.

“As of today, there’s no possibility that Cuadrado will leave Fiorentina,” Montella said.

“He (Cuadrado) knows that certain things are exaggerated.

“There are just rumours and he is not paying attention to all that.”

It seems Chelsea are being held back in their pursuit of Cuadrado by the failure to shift either Andre Schurrle or Mohammed Salah.

Schurrle has been linked with a £20m move back to Germany whilst Salah could leave on loan before the end of the month. Despite rumours both United and Cuadrado were happy or a deal to take him to Old Trafford to materialise in the summer, it now appears the Colombian will head to Chelsea if he is to move to the Premier League.
