Here is a round-up of today’s Manchester United transfer news and gossip.
Paul Pogba will be staying put at Juventus, for now. Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has insisted that the talented Frenchman will not be leaving Juventus until the summer, at the earliest. United have been regularly linked with an interest in bringing Pogba back to Old Trafford.
Interestingly, Raiola put to bed the notion that Pogba bears ill-feeling towards United, the situation is quite the opposite. He said: “Paul has always said he is not angry with Manchester United – you need to move on. So there is no personal grudge against Manchester United. On the contrary, he holds Manchester United very dear and has very nice memories.”
A move taking Aleksandar Dragovic to United is a done deal, according to reports in Austria. This comes a day after reports of United’s interest in the Austrian international. The 23-year-old would prove to be Louis van Gaal‘s first move towards strengthening his defensive options since last summer. Dragovic is a star at Dynamo Kiev and a regular Austrian international, it is possible he could go straight in to United’s starting XI if he were to arrive at Old Trafford.
Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in brining Darren Fletcher to West Ham. Allardyce wants to bring the Scotland international to The Boleyn Ground and strengthen West Ham’s standing at the upper end of the Premier League.
Fletcher is subject of interest from a number of clubs and plays very infrequently for United. However, Louis van Gaal played down talk of Fletcher’s imminent departure. It would be understandable if Fletcher decided to leave United in search of regular first team football, if only to take full advantage of his return to full health and fitness.
United are ready to hijack Arsenal’s signing of Gabriel Paulista, according to reports. Villarreal’s uncapped Brazilian is reportedly close to sealing a move to Arsenal but United are ready to snare him from Arsenal’s grip. Gabriel has established himself as a key player at Villarreal and would fit in to the plans of Louis Van Gaal to strengthen United’s defensive options. As the January transfer window draws to a close it will be interesting to see if United do battle with Arsenal for the Brazilian.
