Marcos Rojo puts in dominant show against Cambridge

by Richard Laverty

Manchester United were quick to throw caution to the wind when the club signed Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon in the summer.

He didn’t get a good scouting report from those in Portugal for his play at centre-back and had shone in the World Cup predominantly in the left-back position for Argentina.

After a shaky start to life at Old Trafford, Rojo has become a permanent fixture in the side if he’s fit and his commitment and performances are endearing him to his new fans.

Against Cambridge on Friday night, Rojo threw himself into every tackle, won every header and was by far and away United’s best performer on an otherwise drab evening.

Rojo’s South American determination certainly shone through on a night where team-mates seemed to shy away from the challenge of facing a League Two side in front of a raucous crowd.

But Rojo was throwing himself into tackles from the first minute and is quickly making himself a real cult-hero among his new supporters.
