Januzaj’s agent confirms PSG approach in January

French giants Paris Saint-Germain have once again been in contact with Manchester United over the future of Adnan Januzaj, according to the player’s agent.

Speaking to Foot Mercato, Dirk de Vriese confirmed PSG had asked for Januzaj as recently as this month and they have been constantly linked with the youngster since his emergence last season under David Moyes.

At the end of last season, the 19-year-old apparently rejected what De Vriesse called an ‘insane’ offer to join the Ligue 1 champions in favour signing a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

Speaking in France on Monday afternoon, De Vriese agent confirmed PSG were still pursuing the Belgian international but that Louis van Gaal won’t allow him to leave this month.

“Yes PSG have shown themselves to be interested this winter,” said De Vriese.

“They directly contacted Manchester United for information. Louis van Gaal announced that he (Januzaj) cannot leave this winter. Not as a permanent transfer nor as a loan. The coach considered him as an important player for squad. He is counting on everyone. It seems like a definitive decision, I don’t think that it can change.”

Whilst supporters may be concerned that Januzaj may have his head turned given the lack of football compared to last season, they will be reassured that Van Gaal does see the talent the teenager has.

At times this season it has felt as though Januzaj has become the forgotten man since David Moyes was sacked but it does now appear van Gaal holds the Belgian in high regard and started him on Friday night against Cambridge United, just his third start of the season.
