Manchester United will face either Sheffield United or Preston North End in the FA Cup Fifth Round if they can beat Cambridge United in next week’s replay.
Man United managed to avoid the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal to set-up a potential tie which would see them go into the match as favourites, much like Yeovil Town and Cambridge United so far in the FA Cup.
Given the teams United could have drawn so far, it has been a favourable season for United. However, it’s something that has been long overdue because United’s recent history of domestic cup opponents has been very tough.
Of course, Man United need to beat Cambridge in order to get the opportunity to play either Sheffield United or Preston. Louis van Gaal‘s side will go into next week’s replay as heavy favourites but that’s precisely what they were ahead of the original tie, so there has to be an improvement from United.
With Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur already knocked out of the FA Cup, it is a great opportunity for Van Gaal to win his first trophy as Man United boss.
