Man Utd prepared to make De Gea highest paid keeper in Premier League

Manchester United are preparing to make David de Gea the best-paid goalkeeper in the Premier League to put Real Madrid off making a move this summer.

De Gea’s contract runs out in the summer of 2016 and Man United will worry that Madrid could swoop in a cut-price deal at the end of the current season if the 24-year-old doesn’t put pen-to-paper on a new deal soon.

Whilst the club have repeatedly stated they are confident that their star man will sign a new deal, some consider it inevitable De Gea will one day leave the club and that a new deal will only ensure United get a good deal for arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The Spanish international has been in inspired form under Louis van Gaal this season and has constantly kept United in games single-handedl on more than one occasion.

Van Gaal and Ed Woodward will be well aware of Madrid’s intentions to bring the ‘keeper back to Spain and it’s believed United won’t allow him to leave unless they get long-term target Gareth Bale in exchange.

With De Gea seemingly happy in Manchester, the club will hope to keep him for at least another season but Van Gaal will feel more comfortable knowing he has an able deputy now available in Victor Valdes should De Gea decide to leave this summer.
