Fans’ view: Should Anderson be sold in January by Man Utd?

After an anti-climactic eight years at Old Trafford, it finally seems as if Anderson is set to leave the club before Monday’s deadline. Reports surfaced early on Thursday morning that Anderson will return to his native Brazil with Internacional after a disastrous spell at Old Trafford.

Anderson joined the club in 2007 after winning the Golden Boy award, since won by the likes of Neymar, but the Brazilian failed to fulfil his talent despite a bright start to life under Sir Alex Ferguson.

A combination of poor lifestyle choices and frustrating injuries have seen Anderson deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and most supporters won’t be disappointed to see him leave.

Anderson was given very little chance to shine under David Moyes whilst Louis van Gaal gave the midfielder a few minutes earlier in the season before the main bulk of his transfer work was completed come September.

The now 26-year-old looked the part during his first season at the club, regularly bursting forward with pace and playing defence-splitting passes. The frustration stemmed from desperateness among the fans to see a popular and lively figure succeed and the Brazilian had a brief renaissance in 2011, scoring twice in a Champions League semi-final before becoming an important part of the first eleven at the start of the 2011/12 campaign.
