Louis van Gaal was pleased to see Manchester United strike duo Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao both hit the target in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Leicester.
It is the first time both have scored in the same game since Falcao joined the club in September and was certainly one of the team’s better performances in recent months.
Van Persie slotted home nicely after being played in by international compatriot Daley Blind whilst Falcao showed his striker’s instinct to tap home after Angel Di Maria was thwarted by Mark Schwarzer.
Both put in very good performances and Van Gaal told the BBC he was happy to see both players get on the score-sheet.
“I was very pleased when we scored as it is very good for the confidence of the strikers and for Falcao it will be good for him.
“They were beautiful goals – it was a quick transition for Falcao’s, with Robin having a big part.”
The duo started their United careers together in good form, Falcao set van Persie up against Leicester in the reverse fixture and again a week later against West Ham.
Injuries to both and various parts of the campaign curtailed their partnership but the signs on Saturday were good and van Gaal will hope for more from his star men.
