Fletcher edging closer to West Brom move

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher is edging closer to a move away from Old Trafford following reports that he is set for a medical at West Bromwich Albion.

Valencia expressed an interest in Fletcher earlier in the month and West Ham were close to signing the Scot only for a deal to collapse yesterday.

That leaves West Brom as the only club interested in securing Fletcher’s services and boss Tony Pulis will be hoping to seal a move before the January transfer window slams shut later tonight.

The latest reports suggest that Fletcher and West Brom are figuring out the finer details of the transfer and that the move is likely to go ahead.

United have given permission for Fletcher to leave on a free so the switch would represent a golden swan song for the 30-year-old should he secure a lucrative wage packet as part of the deal. It would be just reward for a long and distinguished career at Man United.
