Man United consider last minute Lingard loan move

Manchester United are reportedly considering sending Jesse Lingard out on loan after pulling him out of their U21s game against Fulham earlier tonight.

Lingard started against Swansea City in Louis van Gaal‘s first competitive match but had to be subbed off after 24 minutes after suffering a knee injury.

He was sidelined for the majority of the season but completed his first full 90 minutes since recovering from the injury in Manchester United’s U21s match against Liverpool last week.

The 22-year-old was named in the starting XI to face Fulham’s U21s at Leigh Sports Village this evening but was replaced less than half an hour before kick-off. Reports have suggested that this is because Man United are exploring the option of allowing him to leave on a short-term deal.

A loan would benefit Lingard, who was unfortunate to be out for so long following good performances in United’s pre-season tour. Getting a solid run of games under his belt will boost Lingard’s confidence before he pushes for a place in United’s first team next season.
