Doughty added to Man Utd’s Premier League squad

Manchester United have included Josh Doughty in their updated U21 squad list which indicates the Canadian has finally received international clearance to play for the club.

The 17-year-old from Real Salt Lake Academy is yet to play for United having run into delays with his international clearance but may now be available to make his debut.

Man United sign some of the most promising young players in the world so Doughty would have been delighted to learn of their interest.

The delay would have been frustrating for Doughty but he can take comfort from Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who faced a similar situation when he joined Man United from Ajax last summer. He has since gone on to enjoy a fine start to his career at Carrington and Doughty will be hoping to do the same.

Paul McGuinness’ recent Pro Game Professional Phase Coach of the Year award is a testament to the excellent work that United’s academy does with youngsters and Doughty will be in good hands when he joins up with the squad.
