Man Utd will go ‘big’ to sign Marquinhos feels Daily Mail’s Ladyman

Manchester United’s interest in Paris St Germain’s heated up in the January transfer window after reports from France linked Louis van Gaal with a move for the unsettled Brazilian.

Marquinhos, 20, is third choice at PSG behind David Luiz and Thiago Silva leading to questions surrounding his future in the French capital.

With Man United in need of new defensive signings, Marquinhos has been touted as a possible target and in an exclusive interview with The Peoples Person, the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman says he feels Man United will go ‘big’ in order to sign the out-of-favour Brazilian.

“Yes there will be big money spent at United this summer,” Ladyman said.

“The Strootman thing was a definite until the injury. I think they will go in big for Marquinhos, the centre half at PSG who they have been trying to buy for a while. Centre-halves of genuine quality are the hardest players to find in Europe at the moment.”

Ladyman is certainly right on one point in that top quality centre-backs are hard to come by in modern football. They’re now a rare breed which makes the pool of players United can look at narrow in comparison to previous years.

Although only 20, Marquinhos has plenty of experience under his belt and would certainly walk straight into Man United’s starting XI were he to be signed.
