Memphis Depay linked with £10m Man United move

Manchester United have once again been linked with a £10m move for PSV Eindhoven’s Memphis Depay.

Dutch winger Depay is only 20-years-old but has a phenomenal record this season, having grabbed 16 goals and three assists in 21 games in the Eredivisie and Europa League.

He rose up through the ranks at the Dutch giants after joining them in 2006 and impressed under Louis van Gaal‘s guidance at the 2014 World Cup, where he scored two goals and bagged an assist in three appearances.

Pacy and tricky, Depay’s style of play is something Man United’s current squad lacks and his relationship with Van Gaal would no doubt help push through any move.

A number of Dutchman have been linked with Man United since Van Gaal took charge including Kevin Strootman and Ron Vlaar but Depay is one of the more exciting names to go through the rumour mill.

The youngster’s pace and technical ability would allow Man United to play with two out and out wingers next season which would mean fans could say goodbye to the much-maligned 3-5-2 formation that the club has often employed this season. Van Gaal traditionally favours a typical 4-3-3 formation with natural wingers, so Depay would certainly help him move Man United more towards that formation.

Depay is no stranger to transfer rumours and has directly acknowledged links with Old Trafford in the past, having revealed that he is open to leaving PSV.
