Cristiano Ronaldo is the former Manchester United player who James Wilson would like to play with most at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo left the club for Real Madrid in a then-world record £80m transfer in 2009 but has been linked with a return to United this season, just like he has been every year since he left.
Citing his hard-working attitude both on and off the pitch, Wilson pointed towards that work ethic as why he’d love to play alongside Ronaldo.
”It would probably be Cristiano Ronaldo,” Wilson said when asked about which former Man United player he’d like to play with.
“He has worked really hard in the gym to get where he is now, so I would love to see his mentality going into games and then after games.”
Wilson has adopted a similarly hardworking approach to his game at Man United having made the step up from the U21s this season and has shown promise when he has got on the pitch this season. That being said, he has a long way to go if he is to get anywhere near the performance levels of Ronaldo.
The Ballon d’Or winner celebrated his 30th birthday yesterday and has a phenomenal record at the Bernabeu. In his six seasons as a Madrid player, Ronaldo has scored 289 goals in 277 matches.
