The Red Devils produced a disappointing performance during the game and went behind after Cheikhou Kouyate scored but Blind fired home late on to rescue a point for Louis van Gaal‘s side.
It was another important late goal from the Dutch midfielder which gave United’s travelling fans something to celebrate after a drab performance. Speaking about the support from United fans, Blind said: “They support us for the whole 90 minutes. It keeps us going and we want that every game.”
The result was a positive one for United in the end given their precarious position heading into the final stages of the match but the performance they produced was far below the required level.
Wayne Rooney continued to frustrate in midfield with an anonymous performance, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao failed to work together as a partnership and Angel di Maria looked poor.
For all of United’s attacking riches they struggled to create chances against the Hammers and were lucky to take anything away from the match. They must perform much better towards the tail end of the campaign if they are to qualify for Champions League football next season.
