Player Ratings: West Ham 1-1 Man United – Poor Van Persie and Falcao

by Richard Laverty

David de Gea 8 Could do absolutely nothing about Kouyate’s goal but returned to his usual form when called upon, saving United on several occasions.

Antonio Valencia 6 Got stuck in and made some crucial tackles when United were stretched and all round had a solid game.

Phil Jones 6 Had his odd moment of madness as ever but held firm for the most part. Seems comfortable in a partnership with Rojo.

Marcos Rojo 7 Another good game for the Argentinian. Had a few hairy moments but once again showed the attitude which makes him a United player and is continuing to improve.

Luke Shaw 7 His late red card was unfortunate because he had a solid game for United and was a good outlet going forward. Defended well too but will miss the midweek game against Burnley.

Daley Blind 7 Was unfairly left exposed by an attacking formation away from home but salvaged a poor performance with a superbly taken goal that saved United, not for the first time.

Angel Di Maria 5 Needs to hit form, was better against Leicester but lack of pace ahead of him didn’t help. Made good runs but nobody there to get on the end of them.

Wayne Rooney 5 Plenty of hard work but once again doesn’t look suited to his new role. Maybe van Gaal is seeing something in training we’re not.

Adnan Januzaj 6 Was lively and looked like producing something but was sacrificed for Fellaini in the second half. Has played better but will take heart from it.

Robin van Persie 5 Once again didn’t happen for van Persie.

Radamel Falcao 5 Very similar to his strike partner. Wasted one superb chance to draw United level.

Marouane Fellaini 6 Was brought on to cause some havoc up top and did just that. Was thwarted by Adrian before finally forcing a defender to head the ball straight to Daley Blind for the equaliser.

Chris Smalling N/A Probably didn’t even get 10 seconds, didn’t touch the ball.
