Di Maria happy at Man Utd but struggling with English and weather

Angel di Maria has revealed the support of Manchester United’s fans has helped him settle into life at the club.

The Argentine joined United in a deal worth £60m last summer and scored three goals in his first five games during a blistering start to his Old Trafford career.

He has since struggled for fitness and form and has not scored in the league for over four months but Di Maria insists he is happy in Manchester but admitted he is still struggling to learn English.

Speaking about life at United, Di Maria said: ”[I’m settling in] very well. The weather is the only thing…it doesn’t help a lot.

“But I’m very content here. The people have a lot of affection for me, which is the most important thing. It’s what I value most, and I have that here.

“[My English] is very bad. [I’ve learned] very little and only understand a small bit. That said, I’m trying to learn it bit by bit and I’m taking classes. Hopefully I’ll pick it up quickly.”

Di Maria continued his poor run of form in United’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Sunday. Slow and predictable, the 26-year-old looked a shadow of the player who terrorised defences while at Real Madrid last season.

He has had to deal with an attempted burglary at his home in Cheshire in recent weeks so United fans will be hoping he can now put that behind him and push on as United look to get back to winning ways against Burnley on Wednesday night.
