Radamel Falcao’s agent has insisted the Colombian can still be a success at Manchester United despite a disappointing spell at Old Trafford.
United brought Falcao to the club on loan from Monaco last year but he has scored just four goals in 17 appearances for the Red Devils.
Despite the poor run Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes believes he will still be a hit at United under Louis van Gaal.
Speaking about the 28-year-old before the game against West Ham, Mendes said: “Falcao is a Manchester United player. Falcao will become Falcao again. He’ll be a great player with United. The problem is that in football you have a short memory.
“When a player is injured, after six or seven months without competing, people forget, but in the end the player is the same.
“Falcao is a top player who will leave his mark on United’s season. He will help them a lot and they’ll be very much better with him.”
There are doubts from United fans as to whether Falcao has fully recovered from a serious knee injury that ruled him out of last year’s World Cup but he’s a superstar as far as strikers go.
The former Porto and Atletico Madrid was once considered one of the world’s best strikers but he produced a poor performance in United’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Sunday. He failed to strike up a decent partnership with Robin van Persie up top and his movement wasn’t good enough.
United have reportedly agreed a fee with Monaco for Falcao should they wish to sign him but he will have to do a lot more towards the tail end of the season if he is to earn a long-term future at the club.
