Paddy McNair is proud to have signed a new contract with Manchester United.

United today confirmed McNair had committed to the club until 2017 with the option of a further year after Louis van Gaal revealed he had signed a new contract last week.

The deal is just reward for the youngster who has put in some good performances for United after making the step up from the U21s this season and McNair said he was happy to commit himself to the club after a memorable debut last year.

Speaking about the contract, McNair said: “To make my debut for this great club earlier this season was a dream come true. I’m pleased to have signed a new contract.

“I have come through the Academy here and I feel I am improving my game all the time with the help of the manager, the coaching staff and my team-mates.”

Van Gaal clearly rates the youngster having used him on a number of occasions this season.

The Dutchman employed the 19-year-old in a right back position in the FA Cup win against Cambridge United last week and he again put in another assured performance. McNair had a hand in Juan Mata’s opener and he attacked the right flank with purpose.

After signing a new contract he will now be hoping he can cement a regular spot in the United team.
