Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal: Ander Herrera played very well

Louis van Gaal believes Ander Herrera played very well after he replaced the injured Daley Blind in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Burnley this evening.

United fans have clambered for the Spaniard to play this season and they got their wish after he came on for Blind on 39 minutes.

After an uncomfortable first half Herrera’s introduction immediately improved United’s play. Calm and composed, the team looked far more balanced with him in it.

Speaking about Herrera, Van Gaal said: “Ander Herrera, who came in for Daley Blind, played very well.”

The situation with Herrera has developed into something of a soap opera in recent weeks.

The midfielder has been continually left out of the side by van Gaal despite some bright performances. His last Premier League start for United was on 2nd December against Stoke City.

Herrera’s display against Burnley was hugely encouraging and fans will be hoping he can cement a regular spot in the side, particularly if Blind is ruled out for a significant amount of time.
