Louis van Gaal confident Daley Blind will be fit for Preston game despite injury against Burnley

Louis van Gaal is confident Daley Blind will be fit to play in Manchester United’s FA Cup tie against Preston North End on Monday.

The Dutch midfielder clashed with team-mate Jonny Evans early on in the game and although he came back on, it wasn’t long before Blind was calling for the bench.

Man United fans were understandably concerned to see Blind being taken off given how important he is to the shape of the team, especially in Michael Carrick‘s absence, but it’s good news to hear he is likely to be back on Monday.

“Blind has a headache but I don’t think he is out of the game on Monday [in the FA Cup against Preston North End],” Van Gaal said after the game.

Ander Herrera came on for Blind but it was Wayne Rooney who stepped in Blind’s position. He did a good job covering but Blind is by far and away more comfortable in that position.

We’ve said it countless times how we felt Blind was the most important signing of the summer and we stand by that, so it’s great news his head injury isn’t anything serious.
