Louis van Gaal requests personal hearing with FA following misconduct charge

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has requested a personal hearing with the FA after denying a misconduct charge for comments he made in the wake of the club’s 0-0 draw against Cambridge United.

It was alleged that the Dutchman’s comments following the FA Cup fourth round tie implied bias on the part of the match referee and/or brought the game into disrepute.

Van Gaal was critical of referee Chris Foy after the game, saying that “every aspect of the match is against us.”

He has stated he will contest the charge and has now arranged a personal hearing from the FA in order to sort out the situation.

Van Gaal came to England with a reputation of having a fiery temper and he certainly showed it with his comments. It was a disappointing result for United and the experienced Dutchman was clearly riled up after the game.

It is unlikely that the FA will clear Van Gaal of any wrongdoing but he seems determined to fight the organisation regardless.
