Games are coming thick and fast for Manchester United right now and just as quickly as the game against Burnley finished, an away trip to Preston in the FA Cup awaits on Monday – but who should start?
The case for Ander Herrera to start for Man United was already strong prior to his appearance from the bench against Burnley in which the Spaniard showed exactly what he can bring to the team.
With Herrera in the side, Man United began to play much better possession football and his attacking guile allowed Angel di Maria and Adnan Januzaj more freedom to find space which ultimately helped Man United get a grip of the game.
Herrera has had to be extremely patient on United’s bench but just like Yeovil Town away in the FA Cup Third Round, United’s trip to Preston is the perfect opportunity to start him.
Like any away trip in the FA Cup, Preston won’t be an easy game and the fact they’re Lancashire rivals adds spice to the mix.
It doesn’t matter what ten players Louis van Gaal decides to put around Herrera for this FA Cup game, so long as Herrera starts but for illustrative purposes, here’s where Herrera could fit into a side.
We say it every week that Herrera should start but we’re going to keep banging on the already banged drum until it happens.
