Daley Blind and Phil Jones injury doubts for Preston North End

Louis van Gaal has told MUTV the club will have to “wait and see” over the fitness of Phil Jones and Daley Blind.

Jones had to come off in Man United’s 3-1 win over Burnley after rolling his ankle just five minutes into the game.

It worked out quite well for United, with his replacement Chris Smalling scoring twice during the victory.

Dutch midfielder Daley Blind was also injured against Burnley after an unfortunate collision with teammate Jonny Evans.

Jones’ injury was particularly frustrating for fans given his sketchy record over his United career. The defender had only recently returned to the side after suffering from shin splits.

The injury to Blind meant Wayne Rooney moved into an unfamiliar defensive midfield role against the Clarets and Ander Herrera occupied Rooney’s role in central midfield in what was a strong performance from the Spaniard having come off the bench.

Rooney performed well enough there but fans will be hoping Blind returns to the starting XI as quickly as possible so the Man United captain can move further up the field.
