James Wilson and Rafael set to play for Manchester United U21s

by Sam Peoples

James Wilson and Rafael are likely to feature for Manchester United’s U21s in their game against Everton tonight.

Both players didn’t feature for Man United in the 3-1 win over Preston and will be using the U21s as a way to get more minutes under their belt.

Rafael will make his third consecutive game playing for Warren Joyce’s U21s so either he is still short of match fitness or Louis van Gaal simply prefers one of Antonio Valencia or Paddy McNair in that position.

As for Wilson, 19, Man United fans wanted to see him start against Preston but van Gaal chose Wayne Rooney alongside Radamel Falcao, so it will be good to see Wilson in action.

Every time he plays with the U21s, Wilson looks head and shoulders above those around him and we expect it to be a similar scenario against Everton tonight.

Although both would rather be playing for the first-team, it is at least some game time which will only do them well (so long as they can avoid injury).

Full team news will be released at 18:30 GMT. Kick-off is at 19:00 GMT.
