Robin van Persie fit to face Swansea

Louis van Gaal has confirmed Robin van Persie will be available for Manchester United’s game against Swansea on Saturday.

The Dutch striker missed Man United’s 3-1 win over Preston having suffered an injury in the build-up but he’ll come straight back into Man United’s squad having recovered immediately.

“Yes, he [van Persie] shall be fit,” Van Gaal told reporters after the Preston game.

Although van Persie has returned to fitness, van Gaal was keen to stress that his inclusion in the starting XI was not guaranteed.

In recent appearances, van Persie’s performances have left a lot to be desired and his absence from the Preston game was considered a blessing in disguise by some.

It allowed Wayne Rooney to move back up front and Ander Herrera to come back into the midfield against Preston and both players scored.

Fans will be interested to see what van Gaal does now with van Persie because he certainly has shown nothing to suggest he deserves to come back into the starting XI, much like Radamel Falcao this season.
