Marcos Rojo reveals he watched Manchester United when he was younger

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has revealed he used to watch the club’s matches when he was younger with his family and friends.

Rojo has quickly established himself as a fans’ favourite at Man United following some increasingly impressive performances.

The Argentine has easily been United’s best defender this season with Jonny Evans and Phil Jones suffering from indifferent seasons so far.

Rojo also realises how important the club’s history is and said a recent visit to Old Trafford with his family was a good experience for him.

Speaking about keeping up with United when he was younger, Rojo said: “When I was young, I always used to watch matches with my family and friends. Old Trafford is a stadium which is very important in the history of the game and to get the chance to have a look around and get to know it was really very good and something to remember.”

Reports suggest United are in the market for a top class centre-back this summer with Raphael Varane, Mats Hummels and Aymeric Laporte all linked to the club in recent months.

Any signing that United make will more than likely partner Rojo in the heart of defence after the 24-year-old’s hugely impressive debut season. Rojo was supposedly bought as a Plan B to the injured Thomas Vermaelen by Louis van Gaal so it appears United dodged a bullet in that respect.
