Juventus linked with Andreas Pereira move

Juventus have joined the chase for Manchester United’s out-of-contract midfielder Andreas Pereira, according to CalcioMercato in Italy.

Pereira’s current deal expires in June this year and he is one of a number of young players who still have to resolve contracts before the end of the season.

Given his talent and performances at U21 level, United fans will be worried given what happened with Paul Pogba in 2012 and the parallels will be even greater should Pereira join the ‘Old Lady’.

The 19-year-old was born in Belgium but has represented Brazil at U20 level and impressed Louis van Gaal enough for him to hand him his first team debut as early as August when United faced MK Dons in the League Cup.

Despite a couple of further appearances in the squad, Pereira has yet to play any more minutes and has already turned down one contract offer, with the assumption being he wants more assurances over playing time.

Supporters would be loathed to lose such a talent given Pogba established himself as one of the best midfielders at the 2014 World Cup and in club football just two years after leaving Old Trafford as a relatively untested youngster.

Patrick McNair has agreed a new deal to keep him at the club beyond this season but uncertainties still suround the likes of Will Keane and Tyler Blackett, as well as Pereira.
