Andreas Pereira’s father has confirmed his son is in talks with PSV Eindhoven about a possible move back to the club from Manchester United.
The 19-year-old joined Man United from PSV in 2011 but he has become frustrated with life at Old Trafford.
Pereira is out of contract at the end of the season and rejected the club’s first offer of a new deal earlier this year.
Reports suggest the midfielder is unhappy with Louis van Gaal’s plans for him and it appears likely he will leave the club in the summer. Pereira’s father has now confirmed PSV have been in contact and that they will firm up an offer in the coming months.
Speaking about his son’s future, Pereira’s father said: “It is true that we talk to PSV. PSV have contacted our representatives. The intention is that they will soon go to the table with PSV.”
He has enjoyed a good season of progression for United having made his senior debut in the Capital One Cup against MK Dons. He also got on the scoresheet on Monday night with the U21s as well.
Despite this, Pereira is clearly not happy and all signs are pointing to his summer exit. United fans will hope he does not leave on a free transfer, particularly after Paul Pogba left to become one of the world’s best midfielders in 2011.
